Inscapes: a body of work in progress I work intuitively, primarily creating 2 dimensional works on paper and canvas. My process is foremost a contemplative practice. Whether painting or drawing, representational or non-objective pieces, what occurs is an exploration of my own inner dialog that inevitably gives way to a freedom from ordinary consciousness.
Meditators refer to this as a practice of mixing space with the mind. The art I make is for the sake of personal discovery and empathy. I’m visually inspired by the land and the sky, here in MT and the desert southwest. The colors, shapes and forms of nature, alongside the relationships I have with friends, family, clients, and the unseen world all inform my work.
As a Mindfulness-based Somatic Art Psychotherapist, I experience art making as the ultimate mirror, a key to freedom and self-acceptance. Art offers the opportunity for integration, sublimation, containment, and communication. Studio time, alone and with others, offers the most delightful and deepening experiences I’ve come to know.
