As I create I observe, investigate, make order, reflect, and remember. Varied forms arise – prints, sculptures, installations, dance – because each medium has its own sensory properties. I am captivated by the interconnection of the earth and our bodies, their impermanence, and the duality of their strength and weakness. Our bodies are repositories for our personal and communal history, holding memory in the flesh, and their fragility is an ever-present reminder of the inevitability of decay and death. Like the body, memory also decays. Creation is an attempt to record what cannot be held, protecting against loss.
