Check back for information in early 2020. The TOUR is currently on hiatus.
We will be planning for 2020 early in the year.
Artist Studios all named/numbered on the Brochure and the Maps. Ideally you can visit all the studios and meet everyone. Just start somewhere and go, maybe with the further out studios to make sure you get to them, and then visit the ones that are closer together as your tour progresses. There are two clusters of studios where you can visit 3-4 artists in one stop, The Klare Building, downtown Bozeman and the MSU Melvin Graduate Art Studios. Free Tour Brochures will be available from participating artists and there will be a copy here on the website too. (very soon)
You can preview each artist quickly from the Artists at a Glance page, and each artist has a full listing under 2018 Tour Artists, with images of their work and links to their websites and social media.
If you don’t have time to visit everyone, then we suggest looking over the artists profiles to help you decide who to include on your Tour. There are a large variety of art forms this year and each studio will prove to be unique and inspiring.
Mediums represented in 2018 included printmaking, large loom weaving, jewelry making, metalsmith, wood work, carving, calligraphy & book arts, ceramics, textiles, art therapy, dance, movement, drawing, photographic printmaking and painting in watercolor, acrylic, oil, and encaustic. New this year are a few collaborative spaces- at Blunderbuss you will find painters, author-painters, a letterpress studio, upholstery and most likely a few surprises and Beall Street Studio is a newly opening ceramic studio space.
Plan on spending probably 15-30 minutes at each studio, time will depend on your interest in the artists’ work and any activities that you might participate in at their studio.
The artist have paid a nominal fee for participation in the Tour, any refreshments or extras are on their own.
Most artists will have work for sale, it is great experience to meet an artist in their studio and if you find art you love and make a purchase, that makes it even better. You might be able to start your Holiday shopping right at the source as well.
We are delighted to bring you the Tour for it’s 3rd year. It is a true grass roots effort and a labor of love and it is very fulfilling to see it grow each year, both in the number of Artist Studios and people like you taking the Tour.
We are so thankful to Visual Grease for doing our Brochure for a third year. Most artists have also volunteered extra to make the event a success. Should you find yourself thinking you have the ability to support the tour, please talk to us about how you would like to get involved.
