About the Artist Studios Tour
Why take the tour?
The OPEN Studio Tour is a unique behind the scenes peak into Artists Studios. You can meet some wonderful local artists, learn about their art making and see where they work. Artists often make creative use of available or affordable spaces, you can see this in action and learn about the need in our area for more affordable space to retain these creative members in our community.
What to expect when touring the studios?
Each studio will be open from 10-4 for the tour days. Artists are requested to be in attendance at their studio during these hours. Some studios may have a small short demo or hands on experience to help you learn more about their art form. Some studios will have some refreshments and snacks to perk you up while you tour. Most artists will also have work for sale, you may see art that is recently finished and has not yet been shown anywhere yet.
Some studios are in homes, some in rented spaces or buildings, you can learn what each artist has considered in choosing a working space and how it works for them.
Who is participating?
We have 22 artists participating in a variety of creative mediums. These include a weaver, pottery, jewelers, kiln and other glass, oil, acrylic, watercolor and encaustic painters. A call was put out for interested artists for the 2017 Tour, it was open to all artists/makers with a dedicated Studio in Gallatin County.
Artist participants are listed under the tab 2017 Studio Tour Artists.
Where do I find a Tour Map?
All 2017 Artists have brochures to give out with the tour Map and Artist information. There are both a printable map (which you might need a Bozeman Map to help with) and online maps now here on the website. Our Facebook page Bozeman OPEN Studios also has the Google interactive map in a recent post that is pinned to the top.
What does it cost?
The tour is free to the public, artists have paid a modest fee to participate to promote the event.
How can I help this cool event?
We can use help with promoting the event, website development, copywriting, distributing flyers and other things we haven’t thought of yet. The whole event is volunteer and if you want to give a hand-contact us, we’ll figure out a job for you.
We are delighted to have our first sponsor!
Visual Grease is donating time and design expertise for our printed flyer and posters for 2017.
